National Center for e-Learning receives the Excellence Award in Open Education

The Director General of the National Center for e-Learning, Dr. Abdullah Al-Megren received the Open Education Excellence Award 2018 from Open Education Consortium at the opening ceremony of the annual conference of the Open Education Consortium at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. SHMS is one of the initiatives of Open Educational Resources Program, and has won the Open Education Award for Excellence in OER Repository (Collection or Library). The Director General of the National Center for e-Learning Dr. Abdullah Al-Megren expresses his gratitude the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unlimited support for science and education. He also thanks the Minister of Education and the Chairman of NCEL Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa and NCEL's staff for achieving and winning this award. He added that winning an excellence award from a non-profit organization is what makes it unique. The OEConsortium organizes its activities in many countries around the world through a wide range of Institutions, educational organizations and individuals. SHMS is a digital network includes educational resources from organizations and individuals to enrich all specialties and supports cooperation among them. SHMS strives to seek a sustainable path for partnership in design, improvement, maintenance, enhanced quality of digital educational content and contribution to provide more educational opportunities for Arab speakers through partnerships with leading international and Arab institutions to create digital repositories. In addition to translating open educational resources and creating a Arabic content with a high quality; to open the door for academics and students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enrich OER content with a specific and clear quality which is one of the most important initiatives of the Open Educational Resources Program.
